Below are books I've read, books I've had recommended to me, and books that sounded interesting. I'll try to fill out book information as I can, and I plan to add more books soon. The Birth Book : Everything You Need to Know to Have a Safe and Satisfying Birth by William, M.D. Sears, Martha, R.N. Sears. Wonderful! Well worth a read!

The Birth Partner : Everything You Need to Know to Help a Woman Through Childbirth; Penny Simkin; Paperback. This is a wonderful book for daddies-to-be, and for people who want to be birth assistants.

A Child Is Born; Lennart Nilsson; Hardcover. A classic with lots of wonderful illustrations of the developing child. You can also get it in paperback.

The Complete Book of Pregnancy and Childbirth; Sheila Kitzinger, et al; Hardcover. Just plain wonderful.

Conception, Pregnancy and Birth; Miriam, Dr. Stoppard; Hardcover. This was one of the first books I got when we were considering getting pregnant. Very cool lady.

Natural Childbirth After Cesarean : A Practical Guide; Karis Crawford, Johanne C. Walters; Paperback. Helpful read!

Women Giving Birth; Astrid Limburg, et al; Paperback. A wonderful illustrated book from the Netherlands.

Doula Books

Mothering the Mother : How a Doula Can Help You Have a Shorter, Easier, and Healthier Birth by Marshall H. Klaus, John H. Kennell, Phyllis H. Klaus; paperback. A must read if you want to be a doula. Helpful if your pregnant and thinking towards birth, as well.

Midwifery Books

Becoming a Midwife by Carolyn Steiger; paperback. Highly recommended reading for those interested in becoming a midwife.

Careers in Midwifery; Jennifer Croft; Library Binding. On a lot of midwifery suggested-reading lists.

Choosing a Nurse-Midwife : Your Guide to Safe, Sensitive Care During Pregnancy and the Birth of Your Child; Catherine M. Poole, Elizabetha. Parr; Paperback. Also on a lot of reading lists, both for perspective parents, as well as those interested in midwifery.

In Labor : Women and Power in the Birthplace; Barbara Katz Rothman; Paperback. This one seemed intriguing. Also on a lot of reading lists.

Motherwit : An Alabama Midwife's Story; Onnie Lee Logan; Paperback. A lighthearted and interesting read.

Spiritual Midwifery; Ina May Gaskin; Paperback. THE book that helped me decide to become a midwife. It's not for everyone, but even if you disagree with her birth philosophy, the birth stories are fantastic.

Parenting Books

The Baby Book : Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two by William, M.D. Sears, Martha, R.N. Sears. I still refer to this book, and Solomon is beyond 2!

The Discipline Book : Everything You Need to Know to Have a Better-Behaved Child by William, M.D. Sears, Martha, R.N. Sears. This has made a huge difference to my husband and me. Really helpful, especially once your little one edges up into those "terrible two's".
