Why Midwifery:  Health-Related Statistics and Information

This page is very much under construction, but here is what I have so far:

• Midwife vs Physician: Study Looks at Difference in Rate of Intervention An interesting study.
• N Y Times article on Midwives Another look at this same study.
• Public Citizen Study "...a recent study issued by a consumer advocacy group called Public Citizen has further documented the safety, cost-effectiveness and benefits of nurse-midwifery care."  This represents a summary - there are instructions for ordering the whole study, as well.
• 128 BIRTH 23:3 September /996 "A Randomized, Controlled Trial of Nurse-Midwifery Care."  Another ineresting article pointing to better outcomes with a midwife!!
