The American College of Nurse-Midwives A good place
to start if you're thinking about a career. They have a pretty informative set of
brochures they'll send your way. Also, ACNM will refer you to Nurse-Midwives in your area.
They prefer you to call them, however.
Citizens for Midwifery "Citizens for
Midwifery promotes citizen and consumer awareness of midwifery and childbirth issues
through networking and information sharing."
Coalition for Improving Maternity Services: CIMS
"...a coalition of individuals and national organizations with concern for the care
and well-being of mothers, babies, and families." Strongly pro-midwife.
The Purple Midwifery Page Great page; lots of
good resources and information concerning Ohio. (Not technically an organization, but
still highly relevant.)
Tennessee Midwives Association
"The Tennessee Midwives' Association (TMA) is an organization of direct-entry
midwives, certified professional midwives, certified nurse midwives, childbirth educators
and aspiring midwives whose purpose is not only didactic, but one of fellowship and
support."
