Ostara
This is the Vernal Equinox, which occurs near or on March 20th every year. Light and dark are balanced, as they are at the Autumnal Equinox, though now winter is on the wane and summer is beginning to show itself. Other names for this Festival are Eostar and Eoster, which, together with Ostara, are variations on the name of a Germanic Goddess of Spring and Fertility. Symbols of this time include eggs and seeds, and other indications of new growth. One representative symbol of the Goddess of this time of the year is a hare. |
